Ingredients

  • 2 cups glutinous rice
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ½ cup coconut milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. Rinse the rice until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Drain the rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth.
  4. Steam the rice over boiling water for 30 minutes.
  5. While the rice is steaming, mix coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Once the rice is done, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir to combine.
  7. Cover and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
