Why Access Matters
Club Rangoon didn’t begin as a brand strategy. It started in a quiet kitchen during a storm, with an empty fridge and one strong craving. That single meal reminded us that food holds memory—and memory should never belong to only a few.
Everyone should have the chance to enjoy flavor, culture, and connection. Recipes born in Burmese kitchens deserve to reach anyone, no matter where they live or how they navigate the world. Whether you scroll with a thumb or a screen reader, food should meet you there.
What We’re Doing
Designing for access shapes every page. From recipe formatting to image handling, choices reflect intention. You won’t need fast fiber or brand-new gear. You only need interest—and maybe an appetite.
To ensure clarity, we adjust contrast. Bright whites and stark blacks don’t work for all eyes, so we test combinations for comfortable readability. Text should never demand effort just to be seen.
Navigation works without a mouse. Tabbing through buttons and menus should feel smooth and predictable. Whether using a screen reader, voice tool, or keyboard, nothing should block your path.
Image descriptions do more than fill a field. Every photo adds meaning. From curries bubbling in roadside pots to close-ups of textured salads, alt text explains what's essential—not just what’s shown.
The site’s code avoids clutter. Simple HTML structure gives assistive tech less to guess. Clear headings and meaningful labels help tools like NVDA and VoiceOver work properly, without pause.
You won’t hear sudden videos. We never autoplay media. Silence gives users the choice of when to engage.
Words matter too. Instructions use short sentences and verbs that do the job. No filler, no marketing fluff. Recipes aim to guide, not impress.
Since many of our readers speak more than one language, instructions use plain, consistent English. Simplicity keeps recipes flexible—whether you’re a first-time cook or just learning the terms.
What Works Where
Tests run across major browsers and devices. Chrome, Safari, and Firefox perform well. Mobile readers on Android and iOS also experience smooth, adaptive layouts.
We optimize images and reduce unnecessary scripts. Load times stay low, even on older phones. Text resizes without breaking. Whether zooming in, increasing contrast, or using magnifiers, layout remains functional.
Voice tools like TalkBack and VoiceOver read through content without confusion. We write for clarity, not just compliance.
Where We Fall Short
Still, we don’t claim perfection. Early recipes sometimes lack full image descriptions. A few heading levels skip order. Forms may miss a label here or there. These are growing pains from a site built quickly, with more love than structure.
We’re addressing them, one update at a time. Posts are reviewed. Labels are added. Structure is refined. Each fix comes from real feedback or real observation—not just policy.
Feedback and Contact
If a feature on the site creates friction, say so. Whether it’s a layout problem, a missing alt tag, or a broken tab path, we want to know.
We won’t send automated replies. A real person will read your message, and if change is needed, we’ll act.

Prefer phone over forms? That works too.
Our View on Inclusive Design
Accessibility isn’t a feature for us—it’s the norm. We follow WCAG 2.1 guidelines and go beyond when needed. Changes roll out regularly, driven by audits and your insights.
Club Rangoon builds with everyone in mind. A student reading while commuting. A parent cooking one-handed. A reader using speech-to-text. Each visit deserves respect and ease.
If there’s a way to make that easier, we’ll keep working until we get there.
